Research

My research is in the area of experimental particle physics. This is the science that deals with the fundamental interactions of the fundamental particles, relating to the Big Bang and the evolution of the universe, and complements the field of theoretical physics.

Mostly, my work has been on experiments at accelerators at large US and European facilities:
SLAC's PEP (e+e-) storage ring, Fermilab's Tevatron (pp̅) storage ring, and CERN's LHC (pp storage ring).

I am also involved with the Next Generation Lunar Retroreflector (NGLR) project.
We built a mirror that is currently on the moon reflecting laser light from earth, measuring the distance between the earth and moon to an accuracy of less than 1mm (eventually).

And I am currently collaborating with people at UW Seattle on the Axion Dark Matter Experiment (ADMX).
