Eun Suk Seo, Professor, received the NASA Group Achievement Award for flying a record-breaking balloon near the edge of space. The balloon, which was the size of nearly one and one-half football fields, made three orbits around the South Pole in 42 days. This broke the flight record for duration and distance. Her efforts are part of the Cosmic Ray Energetic's and Mass (CREAM) project.

Carroll Alley, Professor, was mentioned in the San Francisco Chronicle on January 22, 2006. The article discussed his 1986 experiment regarding a photon's path dependency.

The History Channel aired a documentary, that featured Professor Robert Park, on January 10, 2007. Park commented on the Cold War Area 51, which was used for experimental flights of super-secret, high-altitude stealth planes that were frequently mistaken for UFOs.

Several news outlets including: BBC News, Reuters, National Geographic, Prosieben and TSR are reporting on the YBO lowering. The YBO is the biggest and most impressive element of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS). This is a very exciting time for the deparments High Energy Physics Research Group.
