From South Africa to NYC

Jim Gates, Professor, spent two weeks in South Africa this past May. He visited the African Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Studies (STIAS), both located on the west coast (Cape Town) of the country, and the School of Physics at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (UKZN), located on the east coast (Durban). The primary reason for his visit was to participate on a program that included Michael Griffin, David Gross, George Smoot and Stephen Hawking.
