The Shih Tzu Fanciers of Greater Baltimore is an organization dedicated to protecting and
advancing the interests of this wonderful breed. The Shih Tzu Fanciers of Greater Baltimore is a
member club of the American Shih Tzu Club.  The ASTC website has lots of information
including the breed standard, grooming tips, questions to ask breeders when searching for your
companion and lots more – even a store!

The Shih Tzu is a lovable little dog unique in dogdom, with an interesting history. At first glance, most
people favor the idea that this breed is fragile because of its soft, cuddly appearance.  Don’t let this
fool you! The Shih Tzu is an extremely sturdy dog with abounding stamina to keep up with children.
Members of this breed are notthe type to demand constant attention; they have a mysterious air of
independence about them. The Shih Tzu isintelligent, alert, loyal and full of courage. Combine these
qualities with a wagging tail when you are greeted at the door, instead of incessant barking, and
you have a real friend.
