Geodynamo Lab Open House

On November 10, 2004, Professor Daniel Lathrop showed off his latest experiment at the Geodynamo Open House, which welcomed faculty, staff, students, administrators, alumni and friends to learn about what Maryland physicists are doing to study the Earth's magnetic field. The event marked the arrival of the experiment's main vessel, an aluminum sphere three meters in diameter that will be filled with liquid and spun in an effort to generate its own magnetic field.
