Physics Olympics On April 17, 2004 students from area high schools
will come to the University of Maryland Department of Physics for our
annual Physics Olympics competition. Teams of students perform a variety
of science-based competitions, including bridge building, an egg drop,

Maryland Day The University of Maryland will hold its sixth annual Maryland Day, a campus-wide event open to the entire Baltimore-Washington community. All are invited to "Explore Our World" through a variety of fun and educational activities. The Physics Department's events will include liquid nitrogen ice cream, fun make & takes (light-sensitive bracelets & more), physics demos, lab tours, a pitching contest, a lecture by Nobel Laureate William Phillips -- and more! Physics is Phun Professor Berg will present his consistently popular Physics is Phun lecture. Entitled "The Physics IQ Test," this presentation will use the Department of Physics' lecture demonstrations to teach the physics behind several brainteasers.
