Ann Arbor Man Teaches, Gifted, Talented Students Art of Giving
The University of Maryland Physics department received a generous gift on June 26 from a benevolen Ann Arbor, Mi., teacher of gifted and talented children.

John W. Wagner’s students raised sufficient funds to purchase a bronze bust of Nikola Tesla, deemed by many to be the Master of Lightning because of his contributions to science in the field of particle electromagnetic technology.

Motivated by a desire to increase awareness of Tesla’s contributions, Wagner’s students carried out a drive that raised enough funds to have the bust cast. The finished product was appraised at $6000.

Wagner and his students arranged for the bust to be delivered to the Toll building at no cost to the university. Their only requirement was that the Tesla likeness be positioned in a place of honor where students could view it without obstruction.
