HST Observations of Uranus

Satellites and Rings

In this image we show the motion of seven of Uranus' Satellites. Three images, taken 6 minutes apart were added together to show the motion of the satellites. The planet Uranus is over 1 million times brighter then the smaller satellites. To show all the features in one image we have created a composite of several images taken with different exposure times. We have also heavily processed the image to bring out the faint ring structure and to show the clouds on the planet surface.

Rotation of Uranus/Clouds

In this image we track the rotation of Uranus by following two clouds (denoted A and B) on the planet's surface over the seven hours between exposures.
