If you have ever encountered a Shih Tzu you probably wonder why we even need a Rescue Committee. The excuses provided when people want to give up their Shih Tzu are sometimes downright stupid – yes, STUPID, and other times very sad.

If you are thinking about giving up your pet because of behavior problems maybe one of our contacts can assist you in trying to modifying the problem conduct. Sometimes a basic obedience class can help you (you the owner) in better understanding what your dog needs in terms of consistency of commands.

Rescue efforts are not inexpensive.  To foster, remediate health issues, update vaccines, etc, requires funds. We hold raffles every year at our Specialty Show to offset expenses but we also request individuals who adopt to provide a contribution to our efforts. We also require individuals giving up their Shih Tzu to sign release forms.
