- December 1 - Professor Betsy Beise was awarded the 2008 George A. Snow Memorial Award, which annually honors a student or faculty member who works to advance the representation of women in physics. Read more in the December issue of the Photon.

Michelle Zimmermann represented WIP, with Emily King (math dept.) and Jaymie Strecker (CS dept.) - October 28 - Professor Ellen Williams' profile and inaugural article, "Dynamic interfaces in an organic thin film," were published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
