Hello and Welcome!

We are the Women in Physics group at the University of Maryland at College Park. We aim to provide a welcoming social environment for female members of the physics community at Maryland, as well as an opportunity to network and learn from each other about academic and career development.

Our group is open to everyone -- undergraduates, grad students, postdocs, faculty and staff. Of course, this includes people of all genders. If you are interested in learning more about issues facing women in physics and in helping us build our community, we would love to meet you.

In addition to our regular Professional Development Luncheons (PDLs) with invited speakers and social events, we participate in our physics community by occasionally hosting larger events, such as our career panels in 2012 and 2015. We were also greatly involved in the planning and organization of the 2014 Mid-Atlantic Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics.

Take a look around our website to find out more about our group or peruse our list of useful resources. If you'd like to be on our mailing list, join our Google Groups page.

WiP is now supported by the Bill Bandy and Mary Jo Jordan Bandy Endowed Women in Physics Fund. We thank Dr. William Bandy and Mary Jo Jordan for their support! Additional donations can be accepted through this open fund.

In 2016, we received a Women in Physics Grant from APS! This appreciated support from APS will allow us to fund the mentoring program. Read more in the Physics Department News.
