SPS Meeting Thursday October 29, 2009 I. Laura Lopez gives Grad School Application speech. If the Grad department runs out of funds when considering a studen't RA application, TAship is assigned. Letters of recommendation from professors are most important for getting into Grad School. Letters of recommendation from post-docs are also acceptable. It is im- portant to make sure that letters of recommendation are actually positive in nature. GPA has to be above 3.0, but aside from that is not a very deciding factor. It is preferable that students who apply have research experience during thier undergrad students. II. Eric talks about a special lecture Next week during meeting time: Chacko: a lecture on Particle Theory Week after that during meeting time: Jackobson: "Where does everything come from?" III.
