Tom introduces himself and Dr. Wellstood
Wellstood is our faculty advisor
	Center for supercon research
		low-temp, quantum states of systems
	his labs are in the sub-sub-basement
	liquid helium, mixes of He3 and He4 that are really cold
	Former assoc chair for dept
	knows who to talk to
	parts of quantum comm: sending encryption, breaking encryption
	he focuses on braking it
		^ he could tell us more, but he'd have to kill us
we introduce ourselves and our favorite / least favorite class
Adam has some bad news:  the Ignobels trip is off, as we cannot afford housing in Boston
We must now "gently suggest" to Hassam that he bring th Ignobel guy here
We'll have an Ignobel party here at 7:00 or so on a Thursday, Oct 5
Every Tue there's a colloquium organized by Hassam
The guy from the Ignobels = the guy in charge of it
	
Faculty-student Luncheon
	In Toll room, free food, talk with professors and with other students
	Working on a date to organize it
	Traditionally we've done Chinese food
	Once did a barbecue
	Okay, Chinese it is
	This year, we'll try not to conflict with physics classes
	Generally it's on a Friday

Movie Nights
	In the past, we watched movies every few weeks in the big lecutre halls
	We shall continue this if people want

Donuts
	The Donut Czar is not here
	Donuts start Monday, we need slots filled!
	Remember, there's a raffle, each shift gives you a chance to win $100 or $50 at the end of the semester

Lounge Improvements
	Tell us what you think we should do to improve the lounge
	Will get new speakers for computers
	Will switch the Linux box to Exilsoft's OS
	We cannot get rid of the piano
	Will get a new microwave

Could do sports during the meetings or for activities
	Have done soccer, bowling, Ultimate Frisbee
	Rolly-chair jousting
May do a tour of the physics building
there are things like a room that formerly had a cyclotron, 2 stories below the official bottom floor, one-man escape elevators

Nats game suggested, and DC United Soccer
You'd pay only for metro trip, SPS would pay for game tickets

We did a camping trip last year

Website contest - there will be a cash prize
due 1 month from today, oct 12th
