Minutes Officers' Meeting September 5, 2006 Summary of decisions made: - Bagels 75¢, Cheese 25¢ - Will subsidize national SPS by $10, or full for people's first year at MD - The job of Fridge bit chancellor will be handled generally by the various officers - Lockers will remain free, with commuters getting priority, then by seniority - The Donut raffle prizes will be: $100 $50 $50 - We will have a part of the lounge's wall where past members can sign - The awards will be hung on the wall - Officers' meetings are on 6:30pm on Mondays Full Notes: All MUST Join national! All will pay SPS $10, and we'll write one big check to national We have ordered coffee lids, tea to qualify for bulk rate, must order <= 6 of a given product Will try pumpkin spice flavored coffee We're basically losing $ on bagles „ So raise bagel to 75¢, lower cheese to 25¢ Sell large coffees for 75¢ (maybe later) Want to raise profits Discussion of subsidizing national SPS registration Fridge Status: Nobody's seen Evan Better to find someon else We need a new donut demi-czar New policy: any personal stuff left in fridge will be thrown out every friday afternoon Will empty the fridge must buy sodas need to move the sps trashcan outside the room every night but don't leave it there or it'll get stolen Tom "volunteers" to help with fridge Lockers We have 14 open lockers sigma-pi-sigma is currently non-existant but will be restarted we know we have one person benefits: you get to put it on your resum find the faculty who were involved it'll hinge on general interest Donuts incentives Positive reaction to Barnes&Noble cards B&N now totally owns the book center The raffle: 100 - 50 - 50 We need at least 3 Lounge improvements improve raceway over the computers with a painting will hold off on this 'till the service on the raceway they're going to do will hang the awards on the wall idea: an area of wall where graduating seniors sign it or do a mural no, don't spend $$ on a mural put this above the windows don't spend > $50 on the raceway we can find an art student to paint the raceway in some way cheaply Tom will talk to some people about this The Photon we will make some inquiries Will order meeting pizza on thursday If anyone wants to alter website, we're open to redesigns Ignobels goal is 10 ppl: $330 for tickets It's in Boston rental costs $200 we'll see what the interest in this is on Thu another option is to get the guy to come here and lecture for about $1000 we may involve other universities' SPS's we could do this as an SPS-sponsored colloquium Must do better at stocking vending machine Need a better time to have meetings Crab feast must do it now! crabs are expensive we'd have to ask for dept. or attendees to pay for part of it Chinese is cheaper enquire about other places, as the main has a $500 minimum National SPS wants to send that guy to our first meeting - we're doomed must pass around national SPS signups the boss wants status reports monthly or so from treasurer and czar some sort of demo pitch Physics is Phun luncheon part of crab feast not being an active member of SPS means your locker can be taken away Thus endeth the officers' meeting
