SPS Members~
Seeing as the regular secretary was not in attendence and I seemed to be the
only one who took any type of notes, I got "dragged" into e-mailing them to
y'all so that you would have them (actually I volunteered). So here you go.

SPS meeting on October 23

Halloween Party
Last minute ideas for the Halloween party were discussed. A list of food and
other supplies that would be needed in order to have a party was made so that
Mark wouldn’t forget anything on his shopping trip Friday. SPS members were
asked to provide music for the party. Ryan suggested that a game console be
brought for the enjoyment of some of the members. A compromise was reached where
the game consoles would not be brought out until the end of the party as a
“party extender” so that people would not leave early because they felt left
out. The party will be from 7pm until everyone decides to leave. It will be held
in room 0405, the supposed “party room”  For those who would like to
help, Mark and Kristin will begin decorating around 6pm.

Talks
Stay tuned for more information. Details for the talk that will be done by Dr.
Brush will be finalized soon. If you haven’t voted for your favorite topic
yet, please do so now.

Faculty-Student Luncheon
Not wanting to procrastinate any further, we decided to begin organizing this
year’s first faculty-student luncheon. First it was decided that the luncheon
should be towards the end of the semester but before finals began and that it
should be 2 to 3 hours long to allow for those poor fools, er, students who have
classes on Fridays. It was decided that the luncheon should be the first Friday
after Thanksgiving which also happens to be the first Friday in December
(Friday, December 5, 2003). Ryan will be coordinating the organization for this
event.

At this point, the meeting lost all semblance of coordination (did it ever have
any?) as the demos were brought out. Tonight’s theme: E&M. Mark got someone
else to explain the first E &M demo for him and then tired to drag Keavin into
explaining them as he confessed that he didn't understand E&M. Clay revealed his
career as a magician by levitating a magnet over a spinning disk. The meeting
was officially adjourned at 545pm.
