Minutes

9/4/2003

Meeting started at 5:10 pm.

Introductions:
Mark introduced the meeting and explained what SPS is all about. Officers
and everyone made introductions.

First Look Fair:
The first look fair is Sept. 24th and 25th.  We need volunteers to sign up!
Sophomores and above are recommended to work the table since the freshmen are
new to SPS.  So the freshmen get the really fun job of visiting the fair.

Doughnuts:
The sign-up sheet was passed around for doughnut shifts.  It is currently
hanging on the back of the door in the lounge.  You know you want to sign up
to get your free beverage and a tire-sized donut!  We also appear to need
drivers for donut pick up.

Advice:

Free advice was also given out during the meeting.  First piece, make use of
Bernie in Tom's office.  She does a lot of awesome stuff for the department.
Introduce yourself.  Second piece, walk while chewing bubble gum.  This is
potentially lethal. :o)  Just thought I would add that in.

Roster:
The roster was passed around to collect emails.  Kim will be updating the
website soon.

Movie Nights:
There has been a rumbling among the crowd to start these ever fun and
relaxing evenings.  If you have an idea for a movie tell Kim.  Yah for
free pizza!!!

At this point in the meeting, no one was any longer paying attention and
demos were brought out.  Thompson's Induction Coil, Launching conducting
rings, and surface tension and the equilibrium of balloons were all
mastered by the group.

In case any of you care, I should be at the meeting this week!  I will be
climbing later in the evening rather than earlier so you get to see my
ugly mug!  See you on Thursday!
