Minutes

10 April 2003 Minutes of the Society of Physics Students If we work quickly, we can get two more talks in this semester. Mark was going to talk to Jim Yorke to see if he could give a talk on chaos theory. Mia is hereby encouraged to see if Cole Miller could give a talk on his work. If you are the last person out of the lounge, after about 5, unlock the deadbolt so that the door locks. (I know that sounds backwards, but that's how it works.) If only non-SPS people are left when you leave, ask them to make sure the room's locked, or go ahead and set it up to lock yourself. But tell them that they won't be able to get back into the room. We will look into seeing if we can get the facilities people to make sure the room is locked as part of thier rounds. Mark will talk to PME, to see if they're still planning a barbeque, and if so, if they want our money. (We had agreed to finance the food if they did all of the work.) Sign up for Maryland Day! Rock climbing has been penciled in for the first weekend in May. More details to follow as we get them. We scheduled a movie night for Friday, April 25th, featuring _Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb_ and _M*A*S*H_. If you have a better title than "Black Comedies About the U.S. Military During the Cold War Era Movie Night," speak now. Robert will get a hold of the movies, if he remembers. Demos, all of which oscillated, and only one of which broke.
