Parking arrangements for faculty and staff can be
made following campus registration procedures and payment of
appropriate fees. Parking on campus is considered a privilege and, as
such, you are required to follow applicable rules and regulations.
Repeated parking violations or failure to pay fines may result in the
revocation of your parking privilege.
Parking information can be obtained from your
departmental coordinator (Andrea
Pope) or by contacting the Department of
Campus Parking.
Visitor parking is available on a limited
basis in lots TT, RR and in the Paint
Branch Visitors Lot. For validation stamp for the Paint Branch
Visitors Lot, or to obtain one-day permits for lot TT or RR, contact Andrea or Lorraine.

The campus operates a 24-hour shuttle service
which provides free transportation to faculty, staff, and students to
and from the campus and surrounding areas. Details about hours of
operation and other questions may be obtained from Commuter
Student Involvement.

You and your family are eligible to join the State
Employees Credit Union (SECU). Services offered include interest
bearing and/or share draft (checking) accounts, loan privileges,
individual retirement accounts, as well as convenient payroll
deductions for savings and loan repayments. The Employee Benefits Section of
the Personnel Services Department can provide further information or
you may contact the SECU Office for
further information on eligibility requirements and other details.

The FSAP is a free, confidential, and professional
assessment, referral, and counseling service available to all campus
employees. You may consult with a professional counselor for a variety
of reasons, including marital, couple or family conflicts, depression,
anxiety, stress, job/career difficulties, alcohol or drug abuse,
financial difficulties or any other troubling concern.
You may also contact the FSAP when the problems of
a family member, coworker or colleague are affecting your life or job.
If you are a supervisor or department head, you may consult a FSAP
counselor to discuss work-related employee problems. For more

Employees have access to all of the library
services available on campus. In order to use on one of the many campus
libraries, you will need a Faculty/Staff identification card, available
from the Office of Records and Registration. For more information,
visit the UM libraries' website.

You are also entitled to use the many recreational
facilities on campus. These include the Wellness Research Laboratory,
the fitness and weightlifting rooms located in the campus gyms, and any
other exercise or court facility on campus. More information on
recreational activities can be obtained by calling Campus Recreational Services.

The University's on-campus childcare center, the
Center for Young Children, provides daycare for children of University
employees, ages three through kindergarten. You can find out more about
this program by calling the Center.

Employees of the University of Maryland have
access to a number of discounts on travel related services. These
discounts include car rentals, hotel accommodations, and admissions to
theme parks. Information regarding travel discounts can be obtained by
contacting either the Employee Benefits section of the Personnel
Services Department or Travel
Services.

Consistent with the goals of research, teaching,
and service, the University maintains an active role in community
activities. Each year the University participates in the Maryland
Charity Campaign and is proud to join in this worthwhile effort to
raise funds to support the hundreds of health and human service
agencies that depend upon the contributions received through this
campaign. Information about the campaign can be obtained from the Benefits Office.

The University has made arrangements with United Buying Service
(UBS) for employees to purchase automobiles, light trucks and home
furnishings at substantial savings. Information about UBS can be
obtained from their website.

You can purchase U.S. Savings Bonds through
payroll deduction. Participation can be initiated at any time by
contacting the Personnel Services
Department for an enrollment form.

The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center is a
state of the art performing arts "village" on the campus. Facilities
include The Joseph and Alma Gildenhorn Recital Hall (250 seats); The
Ina and Jack Kay Theatre (650 seats); The Concert Hall (1100 seats);
The Studio Theatre (200 seats); The Dance Theatre (180 seats); The
Theatre Lab (100 seats); and The Prince George's County Room for
educational and outreach activities. Tickets to events held here may be
available at a discount to employees of the University. For more
