A model of thinking
relevant to instruction: Principles
n Long-term memory can exist
in (at least) 3 stages of activation
n inactive,
n primed (ready for use),
n active (immediately accessible)
n Memory is associative and productive
n Activating one element leads (with some probability)
to the activation of associated elements.
n Activation and association are context dependent
n What is activated and subsequent activations
depend on the context, both external and internal
(other activated elements).
