Paying more for gas

During the past year, the price of gasoline has gone up approximately $1 a gallon.   If you have a car and drive, estimate how much the extra per gallon will cost you in one year of driving.   If you do not drive, estimate the amount it will cost a fictional roommate who drives an SUV to campus every day from Laurel (or some other reasonably nearby town you know). Be sure to clearly state your assumptions and how you came to the numbers you estimated, since grading on this problem will be mostly based on your reasoning, not on your answer.
