A Digital Camera Lens

In the figure at the right is shown the digital camera with which I took pictures of the students in my class. Given that I got pictures of their head and shoulders when they were about 1/2 a meter away (without zooming), estimate the focal length of my lens. Be sure to clearly state your assumptions and how you came to the numbers you estimated, since grading on this problem will be mostly based on your reasoning, not on your answer Camera
