Radiation has been used as an effective tool to kill bacteria in foods. Some people are concerned that food so treated would be radioactive and therefore dangerous to consume. Explain why some radiation treatments would lead to radioactive food and some would not. Explain what you would need to find out in order to know which is the case. Make your explanations appropriate for a roommate interested in the issue but confused by newspaper reports.
