The circuit at the right has four identical light bulbs connected to an ideal battery (i.e., its internal resistance can be ignored). The bulbs are in sockets that are connected as shown with wires whose resistance can be ignored.
a. Rank the order of brightness of the bulbs. Explain your reasoning. (Use a ranking such as E>F=G>H=0, that is, only use greater than signs, indicate if any two situations produce equal brightness, and indicate if any of the bulbs are totally out.)
b. If bulb D is removed from its socket, how does the brightness of each of the bulbs A, B, and C change? Explain your reasoning.
c. If bulb D is put back in its socket and bulb C is removed, rank the brightness of bulbs A, B, and D.
