Non-fermi liquid behavior of the spin 3/2 Hubbard model near half filling

Abstract:  Utilizing an exact canonical transformation that maps a Mott insulator with even valence to a Fermi vacuum it is suggested that an exotic non-fermi liquid state may appear when such an insulator is doped. In the relatively simple case of a spin 3/2 Hubbard model at half filling considered here, a singlet insulating phase acquires a superconducting order parameter proportional to the number of holes that are added. Although this simple model may have limited application, it illustrates an important principle that could be applied to more generally to strongly interacting Mott insulators.
