National Nanotechnology Initiative
Distinguished University Professor Ellen Williams presented a plenary talk at the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) Research Directions II Workshop, held September 8-10, 2004. Dr. Williams was one of several distinguished scientists gathered together at this workshop to review the current NNI program and make recommendations regarding strategic direction for the next five years. |

On the afternoon of October 12, 2004, the University held its 21st annual Faculty & Staff Convocation, the ceremony that inaugurates the new academic year and honors the distinguished faculty and staff from across campus. This year, Dr. Jordan Goodman, professor and chair of the physics department, was presented with the Kirwan Award for Undergraduate Education and Ms. Lorraine Desalvo, director of facilities and personnel for the physics department, received a President's Distinguished Service Award. |
