· Dr. Rolfe E. Glover, III, professor emeritus in the University of Maryland Department of Physics, passed away on July 15, 2004 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Glover had been with the Department since 1961, working in the fields of high-temperature superconductivity and solid state physics. He was a distinguished scientist in his field and an integral member of Physics at Maryland. He will be sorely missed. The Department expresses its sincerest condolences to Dr. Glover's many family and friends.

For those who would like to remember Dr. Glover and express condolences to his family, the Department plans to hold a memorial service in the middle of September. More information will be provided via www.physics.umd.edu once details are finalized.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Physics Scholarship and Award Fund in memory of Dr. Rolfe Glover. Checks should be made payable to the University of Maryland College Park Foundation.

· Edward Grover Kelso, who earned his Master of Science degree in physics in 1965, passed away of cancer on June 4, 2004 at Greenspring Retirement Community in Springfield, MD at the age of 76. Throughout his 30-year career in physics, Kelso made significant contributions to the United States military through his work with the Army Department's Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate at Fort Belvoir and the Navy Surface Weapons Center in White Oak. The Department expresses its sincerest condolences to his many loved ones.
