Invited Talks on Space Physics In March, Professor Mason and Research Associate
Mihir Desai gave two invited talks. They spoke on "Evidence for a
suprathermal seed population for solar energetic particles and the implications
for modeling" at the Muntidisciplinary University Research Initiave
(MURI) Workshop at the University of Arizona, Tucson on March 17-18, 2003.

Festival From Physics, Professor C.C. Chang received an honorable mention for the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching, Dr. Charles Bennett from the Goddard Space Flight Center received the Physics Distinguished Alumnus Award and Dr. Wolfgang Weise, a former Physics/IREAP post-doc from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, received the Post-Doc Alum Award. |

WallyFest To
celebrate Professor Oscar "Wally" Greenberg's 70th Birthday,
the Department of Physics hosted a symposium on "Quarks,
Statistics and Color." Many friends and colleagues joined Dr. Greenberg
for a day of talks followed by a banuquet in the evening. |
