· Howard Day, 63 MS Physics, passed away April 27 at Southern Maryland Hospital Center. Mr. Day, who lived in Temple Hills, served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. In 1952, he graduated from George Washington University and began his career at the Naval Research Laboratory, where he remained until retirement in 1989.

 
· Robert Hornstein, 68 BS Physics, passed away March 11 in hospital in Lancaster, California. Mr. Hornstein moved to Lancaster in 1996 to be Chief Information Officer of NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center. Mr. Hornstein joined NASA during the heyday of the Apollo manned space flight program to design programs for ground tracking systems. He was recognized for helping save the Apollo 9 mission from being aborted shortly after launch when he modified tracking software to compensate for a computer malfunction in the launch vehicle.
