Demonstrations in Acoustics Now Available on DVD
The classic four-hour set of full-color videos of physics
demonstrations on vibrations, waves and sound, Demonstrations in
Acoustics, originally produced in 1979, has been re-issued as a set of
two professionally stamped DVDs. The videos were originally produced as a
supplement to the textbook The Physics of Sound, by Richard E. Berg
and David G. Stork, which was updated and revised for its third edition
and available in August 2004 from Prentice-Hall. The videos have also
been used successfully to supplement high school physics classes.
Over 70 different demonstrations are grouped into 29 titled groups,
each dealing with a limited topic in the areas of vibrations, waves, and
sound. A complete synopsis is available on line by clicking here.
The two-disc set is now avaliable from the University of Maryland for
$20.00, including postage in North America (add $5.00 for postage to other
world destinations.) You may obtain further information or order the
DVD set by e-mail from Professor Richard Berg reberg@physics.umd.edu at
the University of Maryland Physics Lecture-Demonstration Facility or any
other means of communication shown at the bottom of the Lecture-Demonstration Home Page. Please be sure to
include your complete mailing address. We will bill you when we send the
DVDs. Any legitimate form of payment (check, credit card, etc.) is
acceptable.
