K8-11: MICROWAVES - STANDING WAVES

PURPOSE: To demonstrate microwave standing waves.

DESCRIPTION: A standing wave is set up between the source and an aluminum sheet. The receiving antenna can be moved back and forth between the transmitter and the reflector to locate nodes (above right) and antinodes (above left). The wavelength is 12 cm, so the nodes (or antinodes) are 6 cm apart.
