A U-tube, shown on the photograph below, is partially filled with water, then a small amount of a clear liquid that is lighter than water is added to the left side of the tube. In the picture below the clamp holding the U-tube covers the junction between the two liquids and a mask covers up the tube around the point where the surface of the lighter liquid is located.

The question this week regards where the surface of the light liquid in the left side of the tube is relative to the surface of the water in the right side of the tube.
