Here is another question regarding the eddy current pendulum, pictured below and discussed previously in Question #136

Consider two different bobs: a complete copper ring pictured at the left below, and a broken copper ring, pictured at the right below.

Question: Which of these bobs will be damped out more rapidly and which less rapidly when they are lifted to a horizontal position and released?

• (a) The complete ring will damp faster.
• (b) The broken ring will damp faster.
• (c) They damp at the same rate.
