Consider the frame device with arms as shown in the three figures below. Note that it will remain at rest in any of the three positions shown if it is moved to that position and released.

Equal masses of 200 grams are positioned on the arms as shown below, and the device is held so that it can not move.

When the arm is released, which of the following will happen?

• (a) The left side will go down.
• (b) The right side will go down.
• (c) Neither side will go down: it will remain horizontal.
