Announcements
1. Homework Solutions are also available on Course
Reserve under Physics 601-Dragt at the EPSL Library.
2. Hourly Exam 1 will be closed book, open brain,
and may require the use of a calculator.
It will cover all the material presented in Lectures through 2 October
and all readings through Assignment 4 except for Variational Calculus and the
Central Force Problem.
3. The rules for Hourly Exam 2 will be the same as
those for Hourly Exam 1. You
should also bring a straight edge.
The Exam will cover all the material of Hourly Exam 1 plus Variational
Calculus, the Central Force Problem, NOTES ON VECTORS AND VECTOR SPACES, and
MORE NOTES ON MATRICES. Thus, it
will cover all class and reading material up to, but not including, THE
ROTATION GROUP.
4. The Physics 601 final exam will be
given at two times:
A. Wednesday,
18 December 2002, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, in room *. This was a possible alternate early time
for the largest number (23) of people.
B. Thursday, 19 December 2002, from 8:00 to
10:00 AM, in room 4220 of the Physics building. This is the time originally specified by the University and
originally announced in the Syllabus, and the place is our usual meeting room.
The format for the exam will be the same as that for the previous two hourly exams. About half of it will test the material covered in the first two hourly exams, and about half will test material covered since the second hourly exam. Make sure you know how to work all the hourly exam problems and all homework problems perfectly.
