POSTDOCTORAL OPENINGS

APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY BEING ACCEPTED FOR POSITIONS BY THE CONDENSED MATTER THEORY CENTER IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND. Please apply electronically with a CV, a publication list, and the names of three or more referees. Applications should be addressed to Sankar Das Sarma, and emailed to cmtc.assistant@gmail.com. Applications should contain only an application letter and just one pdf attachment containing a CV and a publication list. Please do not attach publications with your application. We will contact you if we are interested in receiving letters on your behalf.

We are interested in all aspects of quantum condensed matter theory (including cold atom physics), but there is particular current interest in the following topics: Solid state quantum computation using semiconductors and/or superconductors; spin qubits and spin decoherence; physics of graphene; topological quantum matter; fractional quantum Hall effects; topological quantum computation; strongly correlated phenomena; semiconductor quantum dots in GaAs and Si; exotic superconductivity; Majorana fermions; quantum many-body aspects of cold atoms and molecules.

We anticipate making 3-5 postdoctoral offers in 2011 in different subjects.

Applications should preferably be received by January 31, 2011 for full consideration although we will continue our search until all positions are filled. We expect to interview candidates during January and February of 2011.
