Professor Redish Receives NSF Director's Award for Distinguished Teaching Scholars
Professor Edward Redish has been named a 2005 recipient of the National Science Foundation's Director's Award for Distinguished Teaching Scholars (DTS) for his outstanding contributions to university science education and to the field of physics education research. This award, part of NSF's efforts to promote a scholarly approach to education and research, “ recognizes and rewards individuals who have contributed significantly to the scholarship of their discipline and to the education of students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), and exemplify the ability to integrate their research and educational activities.” It is the highest honor awarded by NSF for research and education.”
Dr. Redish, as well as the other members of the select group of award recipients, will be honored at a special ceremony on June 21, 2005 at the National Academies of Sciences in Washington , DC .
