Dr.
Gates is Elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement
of Science!
The Department of Physics
proudly congratulates Professor, S. James Gates Jr., on his
recent election to the rank of fellow of the American Association
for the Advancement of Science. This is a well deserved honor that
highlights Dr. Gates' stellar career.
Dr. Gates was honored
for "his outstanding contributions to string theory and
for his leadership in communicating the adventure of research in
physics to students and the public".
This honor began in 1874
and is awarded with a certificate and a rosette. The award will
be made in February 2004 during the AAAS Fellows Forum.
