Area of Research: Nonlinear Dynamics, Geophysics, Turbulence

Description of Reserach Area: Our group seeks to understand strongly nonlinear fluid flows and turbulence in situations involving rotation, magnetic fields (esp. regarding geomagnetism), and quantum fluid effects.

Possible Projects: Decided on an individual basis. All students interested are encouraged to contact Professor Lathrop to discuss their interests. Past skills, attitude and experience bear on the possible project suitability.

Pre-Requisites: Practical and Critical Thinking Skills

Compensation: Negotiable

Past Projects Successes: Multiple past undergraduate publications. Multiple students going on to graduate school. Unambiguous good times involving cowbells.
