Tom Cohen

Area of Research: Nuclear and Particle Physics

Description of Reserach Area: My work involves trying to understand nuclear and hadronic phenomenon generally from the perspective of QCD---the fundamental theory of strong interactions---but sometimes on a more phenomenolofgical basis. I work on a wide variety of topics using many different techniques.

Possible Projects: From time to time research projects in my field come up which are suitable for sophisticated undergraduates. It is hard to predict ahead of time how
often this happens or what the projects will be. Students should contact me
to see whether a possible project exists at a particular time.

Pre-Requisites: Minimally a fundamental grasp on quantum mechanics.

Compensation: Negotiable

Past Projects Successes: I have had many good experiences working with undergraduates. Students have gone on to Harvard, Princeton, Caltech and Maryland.
